We are cordially inviting you to attend the Second Sino-German Symposium on Biomimetics.
This Symposium takes place in Munich with about 45 invited speakers mainly from China and Germany and its main goal is again to drive new discoveries and new technologies in biomimetics. We strongly support the notion that the development of life sciences needs engineering for innovative methods and equipment, while new knowledge about the structure, mechanism and principle in life processes will in return leads to technological innovation.
The focus of this Symposium is on the exchange of recent results and developments in the understanding of animal perception, locomotion, neuronal control, and the underlying biological substrates (including materials). The following specific topics will be covered:
Animal hearing and biomimetic hearing mechanisms including sound source localization;
Animal adhesion mechanism and bio-mimetic robotics;
Compound eyes and rapid object-detection technology based on bio-mimetic principles;
Infrared sensing and biomimetic imaging;
Animal tactile mechanism and bio-mimetics;
Neuronal control and adaptation (learning), specifically in motor control also used in robots.
The preliminary program of this Symposium can be found at: http://fortknox.physik3.gwdg.de/sgsymposium
The Symposium is open to all attendants and there is no fee. More details about the exact location of the venue will be provided at this web page soon.
